Description:

Description for B&B:

Les Eaux Tranquilles is located at the northern end of the breathtaking Gorge la Pierre-Lys, now officially recognized as an area of exceptional beauty. Situated 320 meters above sea level on the outskirts of the charming village of Belvianes et Cavirac, we are perfectly positioned for both summer and winter getaways. Our location, just 200 meters below the winter snow line, ensures easy access throughout the year. Additionally, we are conveniently situated between the cities of Carcassonne and Perpignan, both of which have airports serving the UK, Belgium, and Ireland, making travel hassle-free.

We have carefully cultivated a warm and welcoming environment for our guests, providing a sanctuary within our private park where one can relax by the river or on our terrace, enjoying a bottle of wine accompanied by the gentle sounds of the Aude River in the background.

During the summer months, we frequently host barbeques on our terrace, creating a delightful atmosphere for our friends and guests to mingle and experience the wonderful ambiance of the Pyrenees mountains.

The nearest town, Quillan, is just 4km north of us on the D117. It offers a wide array of amenities, including restaurants, bars, shops, banks, a railway station with connections to the main line station at Carcassonne, a coach station with links to Carcassonne and Perpignan, a tourist office open year-round, and a main post office. Quillan also hosts numerous outdoor concerts in its squares during the summer and welcomes an international folk festival for two weeks in July. Belvianes itself hosts its own three-day celebration with live music and entertainment. The region is also renowned for its vineyards and caves, where visitors can sample and purchase local wines. Just a short drive away is the town of Limoux, famous for producing Blanquette, the oldest sparkling wine in France, predating champagne.

The ancient Cité of Carcassonne, with its majestic spires, is a mere 50-minute drive away. Walt Disney was so inspired by the Cité's beauty that he incorporated its design into the film Sleeping Beauty. In July, the Cité becomes the centerpiece of a magnificent fireworks display that attracts visitors from all over the world.

Our grounds encompass a spacious 0.75-hectare/2-acre private park, bordered by the Aude River, which originates in the Pyrenees and flows down to the sea at Narbonne, an hour and a half away. The river is abundant with trout and salmon, and even Robert Redford was captivated by its beauty during his stay in the area. His experience led him to translate the book "And a River Runs Through It" into a world-famous film of the same name, which he directed. Additionally, every other year, we are visited by the Tour de France, as it passes at the top of our road.

Just a three-minute walk from our property is our local Auberge, where reasonably priced meals are served with outdoor seating available during the summer. It's an ideal spot to relax, dine, and watch the Tour de France.

Numerous picturesque lakes are located nearby, perfect for swimming or enjoying a picnic. Being in the South of France, we are within an easy hour and a half drive to the stunning Mediterranean beaches, offering long stretches of sandy shores without the typical high-rise hotels found in Spanish resorts. Take a scenic coastal road trip to Spain and discover enchanting French fishing villages nestled in charming bays. You can even bring back fresh fish from the boats and cook it on our barbecue, accompanied by an excellent bottle of Languedoc Roussillon wine.

We truly believe that your stay with us, whether it's for one night or two weeks, should be as enjoyable as possible. We take pride in providing the highest level of customer service and strive to make your experience exceptional. Don't just take our word for it - take a look at the comments from our previous guests to see what they have to say.

Lastly, we welcome guests from all nationalities and offer secure parking within our grounds, as well as a secure garage for touring motorcycles and cyclists, who are always welcome.

Appréciations pour Les Eaux Tranquilles, Belvianes et Cavirac:

séjour d'une semaine aux Eaux Tranquilles
Review by: Michelle et Philippe Delaporte , Juil 31 2017 4:50PM
Accueil très aimable de Monsieur Kenway. Chambres très calmes et agréables avec literie de bonne qualité. Service efficace. Bons petits-déjeuners et dîners. Beau parc paysagé en bordure de l' Aude.

Directions

Travel directions from the north:

If you are driving all the way, take the Autoroute A61 to Carcassonne and exit at Junction 23. From there, follow the signs to Limoux, which will be indicated by the road number D118.

If you are coming from the airport, take a left turn out of the airport (but be cautious of other drivers). If you are not allowed to turn left, go up to the roundabout and come back on yourself. Shortly after passing the airport on your left, you will see a right turn with a sign to Limoux. Follow the signs to Limoux, and you will pass the Autoroute junction 23 on the way.

Continue straight through Limoux in the direction of Quillan, still on the D118. When you reach the first set of traffic lights in Quillan, you will be 4km away from our B&B. Drive straight through the first set of lights, and the road number will change to D117 (although you may not notice). At the second set of lights, drive straight on again. After about 2km, you will see a large sign on the right that says "Les Eaux Tranquilles". Keep going, and you will pass an Auberge called Auberge du Chalet on the right. Our B&B is the next left turn, clearly signposted on the corner with Les Eaux Tranquilles.

Travel directions from the south:

Unfortunately, we are unable to put up any signposts in the area due to its outstanding natural beauty. Therefore, you must drive down the D117 to Axat. At the roundabout in Axat, which features life-sized sculptures of local bears, continue straight over and you will enter the gorge. Please note that the road has some sharp bends, so do not exceed 50kph. As you exit the gorge, you will see a large car park on the right, followed by a staggered crossroads indicating Cavirac to the right and Belvianes to the left. After about 50 meters, take a right turn where there are signs with "Les Eaux Tranquilles" on the corner.

If you become lost or encounter any problems, please don't hesitate to call us.
