Description:

Description for B&B:

Constructed in 1860 by a wealthy industrialist from Paris, the Castle of Ferns stands proudly on the elevated grounds of Trouville, providing its inhabitants with breathtaking views of the entire Côte Fleurie. Originally a charming seaside villa adorned with a captivating winter garden, the castle underwent significant expansions and renovations in the 1920s, transforming it into a majestic estate.

Over the years, the property was divided, separating the farm and a large portion of the surrounding farmland. Today, it encompasses a splendid collection of buildings, including the castle itself, nestled within a picturesque 5-hectare park.

During World War II, the German army occupied the castle, using it first as an annex for a religious institution in response to the extensive damage suffered by the city of Caen. Later, it served as a summer camp and finally as a convalescent home. Unfortunately, the castle fell victim to the economic crisis of the 1990s and was left abandoned and sealed off until it was acquired by an individual in 1997.

Since then, a comprehensive restoration project has been undertaken, aimed at erasing the painful memories of its past and reviving the castle's former glory. Now, the property has been rescued and is open to guests and friends who have the opportunity to indulge in the enchanting allure of this dormant beauty. The passionate owners take great joy in sharing the castle's charms with visitors, allowing them to experience the timeless splendor of this remarkable estate.
