Description for B&B:
The De Battisti family constructed this house in the late 17th century, making it the sole Patrician-style dwelling in the district. Throughout the years, it attracted numerous notable individuals, including Count De Boissieux, Count de Marbeuf, Viscount de Barin, and most notably Sir Gilbert Elliot, the viceroy of Corsica.During the 19th century, the house underwent a transformation into a luxurious hotel, frequented by esteemed guests such as Gustave de Flaubert, Joseph Multedo, the Duc of Orleans, and Prosper Mérimée. However, after the hotel's closure, this magnificent establishment was left abandoned for many years.
Today, our family has meticulously renovated and transformed the house into a guest house known as A Casa Reale. If you seek solace in the heart of the city, this is the perfect retreat for you. The guest house offers a spacious terrace with breathtaking views of the sea and nearby dock. Inside, a 70 square meter living room awaits, complete with an exquisite bookshelf, a cozy relaxation area for television viewing or games, and a grand piano from a Prussian factory dating back to 1904, originally gifted to Belgian King Leopold.
With the utmost care and respect for authenticity, the house has been meticulously restored to capture the essence and style of its former patrician glory. Every detail has been considered to recreate a picturesque and unique atmosphere, including the selection of skilled craftsmen and materials such as handmade terracotta tiles, expertly restored mouldings by a master plasterer, and century-old cement tiles. The result is a harmonious blend of modern and antique furnishings, creating a truly balanced ambiance.
