Description:

Description for B&B:

In the lands of the Marquisate, between history and legend, stands the imposing Mt Viso, known as the "stone king", reaching a height of 3841 meters. This magnificent mountain has captured the fascination of travelers throughout the ages. Located in the Occitan territory, amidst the beautiful Po valley, the longest river in Italy originates here.

This region is adorned with castles, abbeys, and monasteries, and its ancient mule tracks and dirt roads have witnessed the passage of monks, merchants, knights, and brigands. The legendary "road of salt", a vital route for both men and the transportation of goods such as salt, anchovies, oil, spices, textiles, and wares, connected this land to France. A testament to this historic trade route is the "Mt Viso hole", a tunnel measuring 75 meters in length, carved under the Traversette col at an altitude of 2882 meters, specifically designed for loaded mules and stooped men to pass through.

Merchants from the Dauphiné, Provence, and Burgundy would traverse the Alps, descend the hills, and arrive in the plains. Many of these travelers would find respite in the ancient inn run by Virginia. Here, she would welcome them with a warm smile, a hearty meal, and the comforting embrace of a crackling fireplace.

After extensive restoration work, the "Virginia" is now reopened as an agriturismo. Step inside to experience the rustic and cozy ambiance of the past, with its stone, wood, terracotta, and antique furnishings. The rooms are adorned with warm colors, reminiscent of traditional rural houses. Each of our seven rooms features wooden and wrought-iron beds, wardrobes, and desks that pay homage to folk culture. The curtains evoke the rich Occitan boiserie found in ancient mansions.

Our guests have access to spacious common areas, including a sitting room, a breakfast and dining room, and a library with a fireplace, perfect for moments of relaxation. Additionally, we have a large cellar where you can indulge in the tasting of wines and typical products from the Occitan territory.

This enchanting and captivating place offers an opportunity to reconnect with oneself and discover forgotten traditions and cultures. We offer six double rooms and one triple room, all equipped with en-suite bathrooms. Enjoy a buffet breakfast, and take advantage of amenities such as TV, telephone, fax, and internet access. We also provide a free private car park for our guests' convenience.

In addition to our accommodations, we offer the chance to taste and purchase typical products, some of which are produced in our own farm. Our wine cellar and wine-and-food library are sure to delight wine enthusiasts. Furthermore, we organize excursions and events to enhance your stay.

Indulge in the simple pleasures of life, such as freshly baked bread from our wood oven and fresh milk sourced from cows grazing on the majestic slopes of Mt Viso alps. These delights are best enjoyed in the company of friends, as good things in life are meant to be shared.
