Description for B&B:
As Dutch speakers, we are fluent in English, French, and German, so please feel free to contact us in your native language.Situated at 21 Rue des Halles, across from the Council House in the enchanting oyster harbor village of Mornac sur Seudre, the former Mayor's house was meticulously designed by architect Jean Buneau, hailing from the fashionable coastal resort of Royan. The stunning Charentais townhouse stands out in contrast to the picturesque Celtic fishing village of Mornac, exuding an aura reminiscent of 19th century Paris.
With its elegant Pierre de Taille structure, the building boasts a unique blend of shabby chic and timeless charm, which our current owners proudly maintain.
The Courtyard
Nestled at the back of the house, you will discover a delightful walled courtyard where, weather permitting, a generous breakfast is served at a long table shaded by a large parasol. This charming spot also serves as a lovely setting for pre-dinner cocktails.
The Pool
Tucked discreetly in the corner of the courtyard, there is a small swimming pool, perfect for a refreshing dip whenever desired.
The Tea Garden
Just across the pathway at the rear of the house, you will find a picturesque tea garden with a mature cherry tree that bursts with luscious cherries in May and provides welcoming shade throughout the summer. Inviting classical garden furniture beckons you to unwind and savor afternoon tea.
The Dining Room
On rare occasions when the weather prevents alfresco breakfast, our stylish Salle à Manger offers a cozy alternative. Furnished with a nod to Monsieur Rouffineau's intended style, it provides a comfortable space to dine.
The Library
Our well-stocked bookshelves house an extensive collection of reading material and informative resources in various languages. La Bibliothèque is also a perfect spot for board games and card evenings, and our piano is available for accomplished amateurs to enjoy.
