We are centrally located in the ancient town of Confolens, which is a romantic and beautiful place. It is one of the most attractive old towns in France, and we believe it will capture your heart just as it did ours! Confolens got its name from the word "confluence," as it is situated where rivers meet. Since Roman times, it has been a central trade route. The Vieux Pont, the town's historic 8th-century Roman bridge spanning the wide and majestic river Vienne, is a sight to behold. The bridge once had three defensive towers along it, which can be seen on the town's coat of arms.
The town is rich in culture and music, with numerous festivals throughout the year. The highlight is the renowned week-long international folk music festival in August.
Confolens offers plenty of entertainment for the whole family. Take a look at our guide of entertainment options in and around the town on the Ville de Confolens tab (above left).
Confolens is approximately a 40-minute drive from Limoge airport, which is served by Ryanair with flights from several UK airports. The small and efficient airport provides a pleasant 1 hour and 30-minute flight, eliminating the usual hassles of traveling. Once on the roads, despite driving on the opposite side to the UK, you'll find them relaxing to travel on with fewer cars and less population. Come, explore, and relax.
The Poitou Charente region offers miles of glorious countryside, dotted with beautiful villages, towns, and larger cities such as Poitiers. Poitiers is home to the second most popular theme park in France, after Euro Disney. It is also the historic home of the Queen of England, from where she ruled France. There is plenty to do and explore in the surrounding area while using Confolens as your beautiful base for your holiday.
C'est le bonheur! (This is happiness!)
