Description for B&B:
We are situated in Mesland, a picturesque and quaint village on the northern banks of the Loire river, nestled between Blois and Amboise. Mesland is a notable stop on the renowned wine route of the Loire Valley and is conveniently located near the main "châteaux" attractions. Our property, a former wine estate, was constructed in the mid-19th century and features a stunning 1846 mansion, a serene park adorned with century-old trees, and the former stable and wine making facility. The Clos witnessed its final harvest in 1955.
For relaxation and rejuvenation between visits to the "châteaux," wine tastings, walking tours, and bike tours, we offer a 14m swimming pool and comfortable deckchairs.
The Loire Valley, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers visitors breathtaking landscapes, including the untamed Loire river, expansive forests, and majestic Royal Castles.
Mesland, our charming village, is located on the Wine Road and is surrounded by vineyards. It was established as a Priory in the 12th century by monks from the Marmoutier Abbey, and the Notre-Dame church still stands as a testament to its history. Mesland has even lent its name to the "Touraine-Mesland" category of Loire Valley wines, which you can taste directly from the local producers.
The Clos Sainte-Marie enjoys an ideal location near the most famous castles in the Loire Valley, including Chaumont sur Loire with its international garden festival (7 km), Amboise with the "Clos Lucé," Leonardo Da Vinci's former home (19 km), Blois (23 km), Chenonceau (30 km), Cheverny (35 km), and Chambord (44 km). We highly recommend using the Michelin green guide "Castles of the Loire" for exploring the region.
There are numerous activities for children in the area, such as mini-castles in Amboise (20 km), the Loire Valley Aquarium in Lussault-sur-Loire (23 km), "Lulu Parc" for the little ones in Rochecorbon (36 km), the Beaumarchais animal reservation with its "safari train" in Autrèche (11 km), and the Beauval Zoo with over 4000 animals in Saint-Aignan (40 km).
Beyond castle visits, the region offers a wide range of activities, including wine tastings (we are happy to recommend local producers), hot air balloon flights above the Loire river and castles, traditional boat rides to discover the Loire, various hiking and biking tours (we can assist with bike rentals), and horse riding at the Centre équestre du Val de Loire (16 km).
For golf enthusiasts, there are several courses in the region, including Golf de la Carte (18-hole, 10 km), Golf de Fleuray-Amboise (9-hole, 10 km), and Golf du Château de Cheverny (18-hole spanning over 6 km, 35 km).
