Description for B&B:
Situated in the heart of the Loire Valley, our guest room at the Old Castle offers a charming and convenient stay. Facing the stunning Chaumont-sur-Loire castle and its garden festival, you will be immersed in the beauty of this historic region. Located in the village of Onzain, with a population of 3500, you will be just a short fifteen-minute drive away from the towns of Blois, Amboise, Chenonceau, and a half-hour drive to Chambord or Tours. For those traveling by train, the SNCF Paris-Tours line conveniently stops at Onzain station multiple times a day, with transfer stations available. And if you prefer to drive, you can reach the capital, Paris, in less than two hours. The guest room at the Old Castle is not just a typical room, but a spacious suite consisting of four rooms, totaling 70 square meters, with a private terrace located in the historic wing of the building. This part of the castle, dating back over 500 years and featuring walls that are 1.20 meters thick, was rebuilt in the 19th century and completely renovated in 2010. You will have complete independence and a private entrance.
Upon entering, you will find a room filled with historical artifacts and remnants that evoke the old castle. This room is where breakfast is served when the weather is unfavorable. Climbing the stairs, you will enter the main room, which is flooded with natural light from four openings on each side, boasting an area of over 25 square meters. On the other side, a venerable stone staircase leads to the room overlooking the moat, which also leads to a small covered terrace nestled against the remains of the 14th-century tower. Breakfast is served on this terrace when weather permits.
The spacious master bedroom offers a comfortable 180 cm bed or two 90 cm beds. There is also a day bed (a real bed measuring 90 cm) that can accommodate a child if needed. Additionally, there is an office with a fireplace and TV, equipped with a 90 cm bed (a second bed is also possible). Another small living room, followed by a dressing room, includes a 90 cm bed and leads to the bathroom with a toilet and bathtub. We can provide a crib and baby equipment upon request.
Outside, you can enjoy the park, the large terrace measuring 220 square meters, and the secure moat. A boat is available for your use, allowing you to get a closer look at the swans and ducks that reside in the 5000 square meters of water. Please note that our four-legged friends are not allowed, as the moat is guarded by our two dogs, Willow and Weston.
As an approved "Gîtes de France" establishment (with 3 ears), our guest room at the Old Castle is open year-round by reservation. During the season, the Association for moats "The Arts of Helion" organizes concerts and shows, and if you happen to be our guest on a performance day, you are our honored guest.
If any of the furniture in your room catches your eye, you have the opportunity to purchase it from the Museum-Gallery of the Old Castle.
