Description for B&B:
Rochefort en Terre is a village that seems to exist outside the confines of time, preserving its enchanting beauty for almost six centuries. Founded in 1498 by Jean Rochefort sire Rieux, this village boasts quaint cobbled streets, charming timbered houses, and grand structures made of granite, including the iconic La Tour du Lion.Step into the mid-16th century as you enter this remarkable house, which was most likely owned by a steward, administrator, or a member of the nobility such as a lawyer, clerk, or seneschal. Even in 2009, the atmosphere of 500 years ago lingers within its walls. With five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a patio, and a garden that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding sandstone and slate, this house invites you to experience a timeless moment.
The Napoleon House, with its bed, toilet, and bathtub, immerses you in the ambiance of the "Empire" era. Adorned with intricate woodwork, gilding, and elegant curtains, this room is a haven for lovers of the old guard and the iconic eagles of the Emperor. The room is priced at 130 EURO.
The Marie Antoinette room features a queen bed, toilet, and shower. The stone walls and exposed ceiling beams exude a romantic atmosphere, complemented by the delightful "toiles de Jouy" decor. Rest in the Queen's bed and indulge in the small jewel of a bathroom.
In the Francois First room, you'll find a double bed, toilet, and shower. The scalloped headboard, yellow parchment signed by the King, and centuries-old parquet flooring in the toilet evoke the presence of Francois 1st, the French king who once slept in Rochefort and likely passed under the windows of your room. Sweet dreams await you here.
Experience the magic of Paris in the Moulin Rouge room, equipped with two single beds, a toilet, and a bathtub. Adorned with vibrant drawings and colors, this charming space exudes the essence of the famous cabaret. The spacious bathroom offers a view of the terrace and garden, allowing you to enjoy the blossoming flowers while taking a relaxing bath.
Lastly, the Anne of Brittany room offers a double bed, toilet, and shower. Transport yourself back in time as you encounter the atmosphere of the Duchess of Brittany, the only woman to be queen of France twice. With a four-poster bed, fireplace, Aubusson tapestry, and touches of ermine, this room showcases the regal splendor of the era.
